The Latest Kindle 2 Electronic Book Reader

by Billy Jean

First, Amazon pioneered online bookstores so people can purchase books without visiting the bookstores. Then, they redefined reading by enabling people to read books without the books through the Kindle ebook reader. And if those privileged with the initial Kindle are still gaga over it, wait till they catch sight of the Kindle 2 and would ask Where To Buy Kindle 2. In a nutshell, the Kindle 2 is the original Kindle with a big step further into the future of reading.

As with most things modern, reading is inevitably trending towards being e-based. It starts with the shopping, ordering and then receiving (downloading) of the books. All this is accomplished in one go online in a matter of minutes. Even the reading proper is hi-tech. It is reading made easy by technology and if it could ‘change Oprah’s life’, it will change yours too.

There are quite a few brands of Electronic Book Reader in the market but only a handful of them are generally considered to be up to mark. The two heavyweights are the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS and they split bragging rights over various factors albeit not exactly in neck and neck fashion. If independent review sites are anything to go by, the Kindle has an emphatic overall edge and is powering away with its second edition - Kindle 2.

If you’re in the market for an Electronic Book Reader, you must act fast especially if it’s a Kindle 2 you’re after. Quoted delivery lead-time averaged 10 weeks during the holiday season although you can also buy Kindle 2 ex-stock on eBay but that would likely involve a price premium. People are packing away their hard copy books and they are going digital with their reading. That seems to be both fashion and function these days.

To Buy Kindle 2 are a boon not only to people, they are environmentally friendly too. Imagine the number of trees a top brand like Kindle can be credited with saving from the paper mill for books let alone the total effect of all e book reader brands combined. Through the Whispersync, the 15 million or so iPhones and iPod Touches are recently equipped to read Amazon e-titles making them green too overnight.

To Buy Kindle 2 save money too. Savvy readers would realize that Amazon subsidizes its Kindle book sales and provides free sampling of e-books so you are never mistaken about buying a book. That may be string attached to sell its electronic book reader but the bottom line makes sense at the end of the day. Even for occasional readers, this should be a no-brainer. That’s on top of all the other good stuff it brings.

How Much Better Is Kindle 2 Than Kindle?

by Joseph Rusinko

Its been 2 weeks and 2 days since I got my Kindle 2 and after reading through 4 full books I absolutely LOVE IT. Reading a book on Kindle 2 is -Very enjoyable. Light weight and thin Kindle 2 is convenient to carry around andhold in your hand.

The new Kindle 2 Ebook Reader also ships with 2GB of onboard memory that can store up to 1,500 books — Kindle had 180MB of memory, good for just 200 books. In the end, the Kindle 2 is a welcome update to the original Kindle design, but still doesn’t change the ebook game in the way that the iPod did for digital music.

With Kindle 2 Amazon kept everything readers love about the original Kindle”the convenience of reading what you want, when you want it, the immediacy of getting a book wirelessly delivered in less than 60 seconds, and Kindle 2s ability to disappear in your hands so you can get lost in the authors words. The Kindle 2 actually feels comfortable in my hand now”unlike the original Kindle which is much to angular and sharp-edged to be comfortable after an hour of reading. You will be able to eat with both hands while reading your current read.

Kindle 2’s 6-inch, 600 x 800 electronic paper display provides 16 shades of gray versus 4 shades available in the original Kindle, resulting in crisp text, and sharper images and photos. Kindle 2 customers can read for four to five days on one charge with wireless on and for over two weeks with wireless turned off. And because we know you can’t judge a book by its cover, Kindle 2 lets you download and read the beginning of books for free.

Kindle 2 supports wall charging via the included Kindle 2 power adapter, and charging from your computer via the included USB. Kindle 2 fully charges in approximately 4 hours. Kindle 2 electronic reader, power adapter, and USB are included in the box.

With its 16-level gray scale screen, the Kindle 2 packs one of the best e-Book reader displays we’ve seen, trumping the displays found on the original Kindle and on Sony’s PRS-700, both of which only handle 8 levels of gray scale. For connectivity, the Kindle 2 uses Amazon’s Whispernet data service for downloading content. At slightly more than a third of an inch thick, Kindle 2 is a lot thinner and a tad taller than the original.

Pricing and availability of the Kindle 2 will set you back US $359. Although the “text to speech” is computer generated, I was impressed by its natural flow and intonation on the Kindle 2. In addition to the memory, Kindle 2 has an improved display that reads like real paper, with 16 shades of gray, for clear text and crisp images. The Kindle 2 also turns pages 20% faster than the original.

With so many being sold, it is easy to see that these will become just as popular as iPods and Mp3 players. The Kindle 2 allows you to carry with you over 1,500 books at any given time.

Electronic Book Reader Kindle 2 Is Hot

by Billy Jean

It brought online bookstores to people. Now Amazon is bringing ebooks to readers and the device to read them with too. We’re stepping into the future of reading as more people catch on to reading ebooks. Without doubt, the Kindle ebook reader has done wonders in paving the way and now we have the Kindle 2, bigger, faster and more powerful. Fasten your seatbelts!

With the supply chain of books becoming increasingly e-based, paper-filled books were always going to turn into e books. Now that we have just the perfect all-in-one device to procure, read and bring with you all the books you want anywhere you go and anytime you want, that’s hard to resist. Oprah loves her wireless reader, so too will many of us love ours.

Plenty of new-brand e-book readers are coming onto the bandwagon fast and furious but the safest bet is still placed with the long established top two players: the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS respectively. Between them they dominate the market and deservedly so. With the launch of the Kindle 2, the talk in reading circles is that Amazon has put itself in a league solely of its own drawing away even from the Sony PRS.

The Kindle ebook reader is in great demand. Availability of stock at Amazon is at best intermittent. Waiting time fluctuates and they are not accepting overseas orders although some 3rd-party distributers and retailers do ship abroad with due shipping charges and mark-up. They are also sporadically spotted on eBay and when they are, are surely to be accompanied by price premium.

The Kindle may come in an off-white color but it’s really green at its core. Given that it’s going to revolutionize the way people read and the scale of its impact based on the its projected sales volume, it’s not difficult to imagine the number of trees that would be spared from being turned into paper for books which in turn benefits the environment and then ultimately us all, readers and non-readers alike.

The Kindle 2 is also easier for your pockets. Although somewhat pricey, it essentially pays for itself pretty quickly especially in the case of avid readers. Amazon ebooks cost half that of their paper counterparts. Shop, buy and retrieve books online through Whispernet directly on the reader itself and bypass the hassle and expenses of driving around and waiting in line. Free sampling of Amazon ebooks is also a standard practice.

Cooking for Dummies

by charlie reese

In our grandparent’s time, cooking from scratch was the norm. People the didn’t have aisles and aisles of frozen, ready to eat meals, nor the extensive selection of deli items we enjoy today. As more and more women entered the workforce, with full time jobs, families began to rely on the ready to eat and take out options in order to put food on the table quickly. Busy schedules don’t allow for lengthy preparations of food, as was the case in the past.

As a result, cooking has become somewhat of a lost art in the American kitchen. Now, we find that, with food costs jumping substantially, it’s time to start cooking more meals at home. If you feel the need for some instruction in basic cooking skills, you ought to look into the Cooking for Dummies series to get you up to speed in a hurry.

Don’t let the title names put you off. These cook books offer far more than how to make a tuna sandwich or fry an egg. Also, there are several titles available, emphasizing techniques, special dietary requirements as well as particular cuisines. Do you love Mexican food? Try the Mexican Cooking for Dummies book, which goes into the ingredients, seasonings and preparation techniques you’ll need to produce most of the dishes you’ll find in your favorite Mexican restaurant or supermarket freezer section.

If Chinese food is your thing, look for the Chinese Cooking for Dummies title to get you started. If you require low fat recipes, the ‘for Dummies’ series can fill the bill. There’s even a book devoted to cast iron cooking, providing an array of versatile and easy recipes requiring nothing more than a couple of cast iron pans, such as a frying pan and a Dutch oven to cook your way to successful and delicious entrees. Another interesting title in the Cooking for dummies series is designed for the grown up beginner cook who wants to teach their kids the cooking basics. The step by step procedures allow you to learn right along with the kids!

The original title in the series is the plain Cooking for Dummies. These easy cooking recipes offer everything you need for all around menus, from how to cook chicken to broiling steak. While you may think this is overly simplistic, you’ll be surprised to learn that there are indeed little tricks that can greatly affect the final results. For example, did you know that you can get a juicy and tender fried chicken in half the time, by partially cooking your chicken pieces in the microwave and then finishing it in the frying pan? This works well because you’re assured that the inside of the meat is cooked, without burning the outside. This method also allows much of the fat to run off before it gets to the frying pan. These books make it easy to learn to cook. You don’t need to know a thing about cooking. All you need is one of the Cooking for Dummies books. Save a lot of money at the grocery and have fun!

Christian Books Online

by charlie reese

I would love to be able to run my ministry on faith and fervor alone, but the truth is that the world doesn’t work that way. Even if you’re doing God’s work, you have to do it in such a way that you can make ends meet. Faith sustains you, but not without brains. A modern ministry needs to cut costs wherever possible in order to stay financially self-sufficient.

Lately, cheap Christian books has been a big focus for us. We’ve been working on a literacy drive with the local community, and we wanted to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. I figured that there was no better opportunity to introduce people to the Gospel them through Christian children’s books. By buying cheap Christian books and then giving them out to our literacy candidates,I hope I can inspire more people to consider converting to Christianity.

Of course even with cheap Christian books, quality matters as much as quantity. You really can’t afford to buy Christian reading that doesn’t give quite the right message. There are some denominations who have pretty radical interpretations of God’s Word, and you really don’t want to let these interpretations slip into your own Ministry or church. Personally, I always make sure to read the cheap Christian books myself before I pass them on to any students.

Nowadays the Internet has opened up a lot of new possibilities for ministries. Cheap Christian books are great, but putting your literature up on the Internet costs almost nothing. If you have a few people in your church who are web savvy, you can set up an online Christian reading room where members can go to study, pray, contemplate, and chat. Although it doesn’t work for ministries in remote areas and is not the best strategy for literacy campaigns, it’s great for online study groups. In our church, the Bible study group is linked to an Internet site with HTML versions of the passages we are reading. It is pretty great to see technology help so many people in their faith. To me, that is what being a modern ministry is all about.

Planning a Trip Online

by charlie reese

You’ve been saving up all year long for your dream vacation. You go to sleep with visions of adventure, sightseeing and a new perspective of the world at large. You’ve taken care of your airfare, transportation, insurance and a general itinerary. If you’re going far afield from your home base, you know that travel guide books are a necessity.

You need at least one general travel guide book which covers the basics. Sightseeing must-do’s, getting around, a few restaurant and hotel recommendations, and a brief recap of museum attractions are all you need, right? Not so fast! If you’re not a seasoned traveler, you might be shortchanging yourself with the basic, all-around travel guide book. Let’s take a look at some of the specialized travel guide books that can make all the difference between a ho-hum experience and a truly enchanting and memorable trip.

If your itinerary involves traveling from city to city, your hotel accommodations become more important. Check your bookstore for travel books that review hundreds of hotels, residencies and B&B accommodations. Such books are written by dedicated and frequent travelers who search out those cheap sleeps and out of the way hotels, with an eye to value, charm and amenities. Such a travel guide is worth its weight in gold. Wouldn’t you love to stay in a medieval castle with modern plumbing, for the same price as a plain-Jane chain hotel? If your stay is extended, wouldn’t you like to know where you can stay in a fully-furnished apartment for the same price as a hotel? Take advantage of this type of travel guide book.

If you’re into museum hopping, make the most of your trip with a travel guide devoted to museums. Your trip time is limited. A museum guide can help you zero in on the ones you’d kick yourself for missing.

If you love shopping, or are on a business buying trip, investing in a shopping travel guide book pays you ten times over. This variety of travel guide book is written by a shopaholic, well versed in those little out of the way shops you’d never find on your own, except perhaps by accident. Detailed descriptions of the type and quality of goods available in any given shop will save you lots of time and research, leading you by the hand to insider gems.

If you’re going to a non-English speaking country, a travel guide book of conversational phrases can be very useful! Such books cover many common foreign dilemmas. When are the banks and post offices open? What’s the current etiquette on tipping? How about ordering at a restaurant? Where do you do your laundry? This type of travel guide keeps you on the planet, so to speak, in a foreign country.

Come to think of it, perusing the travel section in your local book store just adds to the excitement of your upcoming trip. A great way to stretch your travel dollar and your memories, once you’re back home.

Advantages of Continuous Reading

by Justin Kander

The amount of time available to read has diminished drastically in the past couple of decades. It seems there are a limitless amount of factors that impede us from sitting down and reading a good book, but the benefits of reading should convince most people to dedicate some time to it.

Anybody who knows how to read has the opportunity to enjoy reading. It is one of the most relaxing activities known to man, and there is an endless supply of books to choose from.

Not only is reading innately enjoying, but it is good in society’s eyes as well. Many television shows frequently reference literature, and it is good to know what they are talking about. Also, novels are great subjects for conversation.

The price of books has declined substantially over the years, and in this economy, that is a very beneficial fact. It is interesting to note that we now take books for granted, yet hundreds of years ago you had to be of the highest economic class to even own one.

You can bypass the purchasing stage altogether by going to a library. As long as you abide by their rules, you would never have to pay for a book again.

The Internet has made it possible to read books directly from a computer. There are many free services that have taken the time to copy books online. This is done sometimes as a service and, more often, for profit.

Nonfiction books are also great to read. They can be as entertaining as fiction, but they increase your knowledge in a variety of areas.

A final perk of owning many books is claiming an extensive library. It is intrinsically rewarding to look at a shelf full of books and know you have read them, and can reference any piece at any time.
