The liver is not well understood or appreciated, but it is extremely important and you should play close attention to the health of your liver, your largest organ.

Everyday, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, your liver is performing vital functions that keep you alive such as cleansing your blood, neutralizing poisons and toxins, emulsifying fat, producing, storing and delivering energy, metabolizing alcohol, drugs and chemicals.

The livers importance to the health of your blood is particularly important; consider for instance that at any point time 10-15% of the blood in your body is in your liver. This should also give you some insight into the size of your liver. The Liver is the largest internal organ weighing approximately 3-4 pounds.

Your body has an internal filter and it is your liver. Everything that gets inside your body be it by drinking, eating, breathing or is absorbed through your skin into your body is filtered by your liver. Remember if you are going to drink alcohol, eat spicy foods, smoke or get liquid toxins on your skin that are absorbed your liver will face the consequences.

Whether you want to lose weight, have increased energy, detoxify or even enjoy a healthy sex life, the health of your liver is central to these goals and how your body can attain them. It is just common sense to learn more about your liver and take care of it.

Warning signs of liver problem include yellowing of the skins and/or the whites of the eye which are symptom commonly referred to as jaundice. Other symptoms of liver problems include: Skin problems and rashes, Swelling of the abdomen, Loss of appetite, Sore Right Shoulder, Fatigue, Pale stools and/or dark urine, etc.

Liver disease is on the increase, affecting 1 out of every 10 Americans according to the- Liver Foundation. Liver Disease can take over 100 different forms and can be caused by a variety of factors including genetics, drugs, toxins, alcohol, obesity, cancer. Your liver is vital to your health.
